Building multilingual & multi-country healthcare Drupal websites for Johnson & Johnson

Speakers:

Johnson & Johnson is a multinational Fortune 500 company. Its brands include many household names, and they have thousands of dedicated websites.

During the development of one of the client websites It became clear that Johnson & Johnson needed a more efficient way of distributing and developing their websites.

Up to this point, brands and countries were using different hosts and developers. The result was redundancy and long, complex workflows.

They needed an industrial solution from a development and distribution standpoint. Since many of the sites were similar in functionality, it made sense to re-use modules across their websites. They required standardisation at every possible level to reduce cost, development time and management. As this project began in the EMEA and MENA regions, by default many sites were multilingual. The challenge was to find the simplest possible way to develop and distribute hundreds of brand sites and their country clones.
