A lot of commercial video broadcasting and transcoding services already exists. Why would EPAM Systems reinvent its own wheel? What is so special about it? Can’t we just buy and re-use an existing solution?

Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to re-use an existing service within our infrastructure, especially for huge and popular events. Moreover, most Terms of Service do not meet our legal requirements.

This session describes internal video-sharing web platform from the developer and end-user perspective. The solution was built using open-source components (nginx & Symfony 2). Its goal is to cover the Company needs in live broadcasting and pre-recorded video playback functionality. The video portal successfully supports internal events (conferences and webinars) providing video to over 5,000 concurrent viewers on a limited bandwidth.
