Fatal Errors in Communication: Avoiding pitfalls in client management

Speakers:

In PHP, if you write two functions with the same name, it produces a fatal error. Just as in coding, it’s equally important to make sure you and your client are reading from the same script.

As a developer who has transitioned to project manager at Aten Design Group, I’ve worked really hard to make every mistake you can make and want to help you avoid the pitfalls I’ve fallen into. I’d also like to talk about how Aten manages our ongoing engagements

Some of the topics we are going to cover:

  • Process. Process. Process.
  • Are we speaking the same language?
  • Embracing small disappointments.
  • Communicate early and often, get down with the “Hello World” of emails.
  • Developers are the smartest people in the room — don’t make them think.
  • Get the big picture: short term vs long term strategery.
