There are many approaches to deploying and managing multiple websites that leverage the same code base, including Drupal core's multisite architecture, microsite's running within in the same Drupal instance, and distributions. In this session, we will use the development of a custom Drupal distribution for the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, a network of 34 regional associations that support philanthropic giving, as a case study for best practices around managing multiple sites that share an upstream code base with a Drush Make build process and a Git-based deployment workflow.
We will explore a variety of helpful development operations tools for facilitating this architecture, including scripted release planning and leveraging Git Flow. In particular, we will highlight how this workflow can be leveraged using Pantheon One with multidev.
