Migrate into Drupal 8

Speakers:

The migrate module is now part of core! This means that migrate is no longer a secondary option when upgrading your sites to Drupal 8, but is the preferred route for upgrading. The previous “upgrade” process has been removed from the system.

Find out what this means for your team and learn how to migrate Drupal 6 (and soon Drupal 7 and other versions) directly into Drupal 8 by using the built-in user interface or using drush. Learn how to augment migrations with the new alter hooks, how to code new templates and find out where familiar functions have moved in the new version.

Most importantly, we will discuss what is going to be supported core and what is not going to be implemented so you can determine if it is necessary to build contrib modules or not. We will also talk about the potential for importing sites from other platforms including Wordpress, Joomla and even our older versions of Drupal.

If you are interested in helping to test the migration path Ryan will be on-site at the extended sprints to answer questions and help you get setup to migrate your data into Drupal 8!

Migrate is an important tool for migrating from Drupal to Drupal (as well as from non-Drupal sites to Drupal). Ryan's got all the right experience to deliver a great presentation on this topic.
