How to provide instant content updates to your visitors while keeping your performance and efficiency optimal? Reverse proxy caches can do miracles for your site performance but come with the disadvantage of delaying the presentation of content updates. The Purge module aims to help overcome this by issuing “PURGE” requests containing URL’s that need to be cleared from reverse proxy caches like Varnish, Nginx and Squid. In this talk we will explain the problem at hand, an update on the new Purge 2.x module and other solutions available today for Drupal 7. With the many architectural changes in Drupal 8 purging will become structurally better, we will explain how Purge 3.x will leverage these.
